SF Spring Concert Schedule Southern Fulton High School spring concert schedule is: senior high chorus, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. All events presented in the high school auditorium. Admission to all events is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Proceeds benefit the band and chorus activity funds.
SF Elementary Band/Chorus Concert Southern Fulton Elementary band and chorus will hold a spring concert Thursday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m. in the elementary auditorium. Admission to the concert is free.
Hiking & Vittles Along The Tuscarora Trail Lace up your hiking boots and enjoy a 3.5 mile hike down the Tuscarora Trail to scenic Cowans Gap State Park during a two-hour event with Buchanan State Forest Ranger Shawn Lynn Sunday, May 17, at 2:00 p.m. (Raindate is Sunday, May 24.) Hershey Track & Field Games On Saturday, May 16, Mc- Connellsburg High School track team will sponsor a local Hershey tack and field meet for ages 9-14 at McConnellsburg High School track. Registration will be from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. with competition starting at 4:00 p.m. Girls will compete against girls and boys against boys. Each student may compete in two running and one field event or one running and two field events. Medals and ribbons will be awarded. Golf Tournament Fulton County Community Christian School will host the eighth annual Forrest R. Mellott Memorial golf tournament on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Great Cove Golf Course, Mc- Connellsburg. This tournament will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m. Top prize for the tournament is $1,000. Gym Time McConnellsburg Alumni and Friends Association will be sponsoring free gym time in the old MHS gym on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from noon to 2:00 p.m., for anyone who would like to walk, workout, play some basketball, volleyball, table tennis, etc. The gym will be open every Monday and Wednesday and follow the Central Fulton School schedule. Wind and Water Wonders Adventure Camp Ever wonder what lurks under the water or what can be found soaring through the sky? Around The World 3-D Art Camp An "Around The World 3-D" art camp will be held at Forbes Road High School June 22-26, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Children enrolled in third through twelfth grades will take a hands-on approach to learning clay sculpture and basketry techniques from other cultures found around the world. Clay hand-building techniques will likely include slab, coil and pinch and give cultural details related to Africa, Greece, China and Mexico. Participation is limited to one or two days depending on grade level. This event, held by the Fulton County Parks and Recreation Commission, is funded in part by a PA Council on the Arts grant. Free Youth Shoots Free youth shoots (.22 rifle and shotgun) are held at Fulton County Rifle and Pistol Club, at 5:30 p.m., every Friday night in May. Open to youths 16 and younger. Rifles and shells will be furnished. Winners nightly. The kitchen will be open. Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration taken until 6:30 p.m.
X Card Shoot Fulton County Rifle and Pistol Club is having a special X card shoot every Friday night at 7:00 p.m. during the month of April. Eleven regular rounds for 12 and 20 gauge (ammo supplied) and two .410 outlaw rounds (no ammo supplied). Prizes are gift certificates to Keystone Country Store. There is a gun bowl and the kitchen is open.
Line Dance Fulton County Line Dance Club will hold line dance sessions every Wednesday (except the first Wednesday of the month) beginning at 7:00 p.m. at VFW Post 655, Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. All are welcome. Come and learn some new steps. A $2 donation is appreciated.
Youth Day Hunters Helping Kids will be hosting a youth day June 20 at Fulton County Pistol and Rifle Club, starting at 8:30 a.m. Children from ages 5 and above are welcome to learn and shoot rifle, crossbow, shotgun, etc. Forestry and wildlife walks, food and games will also be held. PA-R-PAC Bus Trip PA-R-PAC will be hosting a bus trip to Landover, Md., to the National Air Show located at Andrews Air Force Base on Sunday, May 17. Featured will be the Thunderbirds. The day will be spent on the Air Force runway getting close to planes and watching them put on a wonderful show. The bus will leave the McConnellsburg American Legion at 7:00 a.m. and will return around 8:00 p.m. A stop will be made in Frederick for breakfast as well as dinner on the way home.
