Great Cove Golf News
On Saturday, April 25, John Mixell and Matt Sigel won the spring two man better ball fundraiser tourney for the club. The highly anticipated event was well participated in, with golfers from Waynesboro Country Club, Mount Union and other golf courses competing.
Great Cove member Gary Bard was quoted as saying, "In my 10 years of membership I have never seen the Cove looking this good."
Looking forward, the pool will be opening in May with swimming lessons again being offered to the public.The golf course also looks forward to the year with the restaurant that is open to the public and operated by Jody Davies and her staff. Jodi is very willing to work with the community and has the facilities for wedding receptions, birthday parties and many other events.
The course and pool are open to the public and welcome guests at the facilities, restaurant and golf club. Memberships this year are deeply discounted due to the current economic times. Results of the Great Cove Spring Better Ball played on Saturday, April 25, were (net) first with a score of 62, John Mixell and Matt Sigel; second place, net score of 64, Emmert Banzhoff and Jim Truax; third-place tie, net score of 65, Kenneth Mayhugh and Paul Johnston and Eric Harne and Ty Wilhide.
First place, gross score 68, Steve Cortis and Matt Hale; second gross score 72, a tie: Gary Bard and Bryan Campbell and Bob Paruch and Larry Steele.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were number four - Bryan Campbell; six and 12 - Terry Sheeder and 16 - Jeremy Culler.
The next tournaments are scheduled for Friday, May 1 - chamber outing; and Sunday, May 3 - ABCD scramble.
