Forbes Road 4

Three members of the Forbes Road Cardinals' pitching staff took to the mound Monday afternoon and gave up 12 hits to the victorious McConnellsburg Spartans, who won the match by 10 runs. Tanner Shoop was handed the victory for the Spartans with nine strikeouts, four walks, four hits and three earned runs. Trent Black spent only two innings on the mound for the Cardinals with one strikeout, two walks, four hits and five earned runs. Dylan Gelvin had a double for Forbes Road, while Spartan Nathan Swope connected for a triple.

Tussey Mountain 7,

Southern Fulton 5

Southern Fulton committed four errors thatled to six unearned runs during a two-run loss to the Tussey Mountain Titans Monday evening. Pitcher Derek Younker rallied for 11 strikeouts, three walks, four hits and one earned run during the league loss. Jesse Smartt connected for a two-run homer, and Younker and Seth Hall both added two hits.

Southern Fulton 3,

McConnellsburg 2

Southern Fulton eked out a one-run victory last Thursday downing the McConnellsburg Spartans 3-2 in Sideling Hill League action. Indian Josh Hall had a well-timed and muchneeded homer late in the game for the victorious Indians, who were led on the mound by pitcher Derek Younker. Younker tallied six strikeouts, seven hits and two earned runs. Drew Wink took the loss for McConnellsburg with one strikeout, four hits and two earned runs. Logan Peck added a pair of hits for the Spartans.

McConnellsburg 13,

St. Maria Goretti 10

McConnellsburg fought back from a seven-point deficit Saturday afternoon to down St. Maria Goretti by the final score of 13-10. Evan Appleby closed out the game for the Spartans and took the win with one strikeout and four hits after Goretti scored seven runs in the first two innings. Nathan Swope connected for his first-ever home run, and also had a double as did teammates Appleby, Logan Peck and Drew Wink. Swope finished the day batting four-for-five with five RBIs.

Fannett-Metal 3, Forbes Road 2

Fannett-Metal scored a much-need run in the eighth inning to break away for a 3-2 Sideling Hill League victory over the Forbes Road Cardinals Friday evening. Trent Black finished the last two innings of the league match and took the loss after striking out three, walking two and giving up two hits and one earned run. Black was also the one responsible for putting the game into extra innings with an RBI groundout.

Chestnut Ridge 8,

McConnellsburg 6

McConnellsburg rallied for a 6-6 tie but Chestnut Ridge still managed to drive in some late game runs for an 8-6 victory. Logan Peck managed two hits for the Spartans. Pitcher Devin Petty-John was handed his first loss of the season with two strikeouts, one walk, four hits and two earned runs.

Southern Fulton 14, Hancock 2

Southern Fulton got revenge for an early season loss last Friday evening and trounced Hancock by 12 runs. During the nonleague victory, Jesse Smartt cracked a three-run homer and finished the game batting threefor three. Smartt also had a tworun double and an RBI single. Justin Berkstresser went twofor three with a double and three RBIs, and Adam Younker was two-for-three with three runs and two RBIs. Josh Hall gave up four hits over five innings and also struck out five batters.

McConnellsburg 3, Tussey 2

McConnellsburg squeezed out a one-run victory over the Tussey Mountain Titans and bumped up its season record to 5-3 with the league win. Pitcher Tanner Shoop picked up his second win of the year with five strikeouts, seven hits and only two earned runs during seven innings on the mound. Logan Peck and Drew Wink both had doubles for the Spartans.
