Elinor C. Kirk
Elinor Clement Kirk, 88, Hustontown, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at her home.
She was born March 31, 1921 in Jennersville, Pa., the daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel (Galbreath) Clement. She was married to Charles R. Kirk on June 26, 1943.
She was a graduate of George School and University of North Carolina, Woman's College. She was interested in native horticulture and was an avid knitter and reader.
She was a volunteer for many years at Hustontown Library. She was employed by Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State, involved in torpedo research after WWII and as a law clerk in both Philadelphia and McConnellsburg.
She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Kirk, Hustontown; a son Malcolm; daughter Nancy; son-in-law Anthony Pugliese; and four grandchildren: Thomas and Timothy Kirk, Niwot, Colo., and Elinor and Samuel Pugliese, Shrewsbury, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents ,Thomas and Mabel Clement of Lincoln University, Pa.; her brother, Malcolm Clement, of Richland, Wash.; and her sister, Mabel Clement Lee, Kennett Square, Pa.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Homes, 322 North Second Street, McConnellsburg, will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hustontown Library, Hustontown, PA, 17229.
