Volunteers Needed For Great American Cleanup

Friends of the Little Aughwick Creek is seeking volunteers for a community cleanup day as part of the Great American Cleanup of PA, on May 2, 2009, at 9 a.m.

Volunteers will be meeting at the parking lot across from Park Texaco along Route 522 and at the Burnt Cabins Grist Mill at 9 a.m.

The group will be picking up litter and trash along roads and streams.

The Great American Cleanup of PA is a statewide cleanup campaign involving local and state government, businesses, waste haulers and environmental and civic groups. The PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Transportation (PennDOT), in cooperation with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Inc., are sponsoring the Great American Cleanup of PA.

Individuals, Scouting groups and environmental clubs are invited to be part of this effort.

Gloves, trash bags and safety equipment will be provided.

Park Texaco is helping to sponsor the cleanup by providing refreshments.
