Fulton County Little League Opening Ceremony April 18
The Fulton County Little League will host its annual opening ceremony on Saturday, April 18, 2009. The ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Little League ballfield at the Lions Club Park. The ceremony will use this list of events as the procedure for the day: introduction, invocation, the playing of the National Anthem, the dedication ceremony, the first pitch, and then the infamous "Play Ball" announcement.
The introductions will consist of the calling of names for all of the Little League and Farm League players, managers, coaches and sponsors, as they will be announced on their way out onto the field. The dedication ceremony will be a touching and meaningful dedication of the Little League Field to Ray S. Koontz. The family of Mr. Koontz will be present for the dedication and renaming of the field in his honor as well as for the ceremonial first pitch. After that pitch, all Little League teams will be taking the field for their first atbats of the season. Each team will bat through the lineup one time before turning over the bats to their competitor. Regular season games will begin during the week of April 20, 2009. Please be aware of the many vehicles, pedestrians, and players while traveling past the ball fields, soccer fields, and park area. Many hours have been spent planning and readying the fields for this year's season.
