Eleanore R. Bechtell
Eleanore R. "El" Lessick Bechtell, 78, of Mt. Pleasant, Pa., died Saturday, April 11, 2009, in Excela Health Jeannette Hospital.
She was born May 2, 1930, in Southwest, Pa., the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Hanko Lessick. Eleanore was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.
She was a graduate of the former Hurst High School with the class of 1948. She had worked as a supervisor for the former Bell Telephone Co. and then worked in the cafeteria for the Mt. Pleasant Area School District, retiring in the late 1990s.
She enjoyed sports and was an enthusiastic Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirates fan. She loved her trips to Atlantic City and Wheeling. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an avid collector of hummingbird figurines. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivin are her husband, Robert C. Bechtell, of Mt. Pleasant; daughters: Donna M. Lipko, of McCon-nellsburg, and Carol A. Christie of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughters Jennifer and Jessica Lipko and Kayla and Alexis Christie. She is also survived by her brother and sister, Robert Lessick and his wife, Diane, of Arnold, Md., and Mary Ann Winnegge and her husband, Ronald, of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Lessick, in 1981.
A prayer service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in the Galone-Caruso Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, followed by her funeral Mass at 2:30 p.m. in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant.
Interment was made in St. Pius X Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
Eleanore's family suggests contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Excela Health Hospice Unit, Jeannette.
