Vo Tech Attends States

Fulton County Area Vocational Technical School SkillsUSA members attended the Annual Pennsylvania SkillsUSA Championships April 1 through April 3 in Hershey. The SkillsUSA Championships is a showcase for the best career and technical students in the state.

SkillsUSA serves trade, industrial, technical and health occupations students by developing their skills and leadership qualities. The competencies that these students receive through their vocational training combined with the employability skills learned through SkillsUSA produces a professionally employable student. The Skills- USA advisor for the Fulton County Area Vocational Technical School is Christy Wahl, the guidance counselor.

Competition begins locally and continues through district, state, national and international levels. Skills-USA is a national organizational partnership run through labor, industry and education that provides leadership training and skill competition for students striving for excellence and pride in their chosen occupational field.

Jeanette Pittman, an agricultural production student from McConnellsburg High School, competed in the job interview leadership event. Justin Gordon, a drafting and design student also from Mc- Connellsburg High School, competed in the architectural design, technical competition. Olivia Rose, an allied health student from Southern Fulton High School, represented the chapter by attending as a delegate. Delegates assist in electing the new state officers and amending constitutional articles, and bylaws.
