Graffious A. Sipes

Big Cove Tannery, 67

Graffious A. "Graff'' Sipes, 67, of 621 Wolf Hollow Road, Big Cove Tannery, Pa., passed away at 11:50 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, in the emergency room of Fulton County Medical Center, with his family by his side. He had been in failing health for the past month.

Born November 9, 1941, in Licking Creek Township, Fulton County, he was the son of the late Harold A. and Ruby Mae Deshong Sipes. He was a lifelong resident of the Fulton County area.

Mr. Sipes served with the United States Navy.

He retired from Grove Worldwide, Shady Grove, Pa., and enjoyed hunting, fishing and mowing grass.

He and his wife of more than 18 years, Helen Zeis Sipes, were married March 9, 1991, in Hagerstown, Md.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Wendy Sipes of Thurmont, Md.; one son, Keith Sipes of Harrisonville; one stepdaughter, Cindy Miller of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters: Dee Jane Edwards of Chambersburg and Marsha Yates of York, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Linda West, and three brothers: Allen Sipes, Monty Sipes and Terry Sipes.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore, with his grandson, Brian Miller, officiating.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
