Two Women, One Girl Die From Philly Row House Fire
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Fire officials say two women and a young girl have died as a result of a fast-moving row house fire that broke out just after midnight in North Philadelphia.
Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers says a woman who jumped from a second-story window taken to a Hahnemann University Hospital with burns and a head injury was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The commissioner says when firefighters entered the two-story house they found a woman and a pre-teenage girl dead in an upstairs bedroom. There was no immediate word on the causes of death.
Ayers called the blaze a "hot, fast fire'' and said those on the second floor "didn't have a chance.''
He says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
