Accident Claims Todd Township Woman
A single-vehicle crash in Licking Creek Township claimed the life of a McConnellsburg area woman over the weekend.
Sixty-four-year-old Nancy Lea Orr of 144 East Patterson Street was pronounced dead at the accident scene at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, by Fulton County Deputy Coroner Darrin Smith. Smith was assisted on the scene by fellow Deputy Coroner Jason Buterbaugh and Coroner Darryl Heckman, who said exact cause of Orr's death is currently pending.
Heckman said an autopsy was performed Monday morning by Dr. Sara Funke of Forensic Pathology at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. Standard autopsy and toxicology reports are pending and should be received in the next several weeks.
Orr's eastbound vehicle crossed the centerline on Route 30 near the intersection of Sipes Mill Road at 6:05 a.m. and struck a wooden mailbox post situated on the westbound lane, according to Pennsylvania State Police at the McConnellsburg barracks. The 2008 Hyundai Elantra then travelled more than 574 feet through a grassy field where it came to a rest. The car's air bags did not deploy during the collision, and minimal damage was sustained to the vehicle.
Orr was wearing a seat belt during the accident and unconscious when officials arrived on the scene, state police reported.
Orr is survived by her husband, William, and multiple children.
