Book Sale The 24th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale will be held May 8-10 at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9; and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. More information may be obtained by calling 262-2326.

Lunch To Learn Series The Lunch to Learn Series: Kidney Disease and Organ Transplants presented by the Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania will be held Tuesday, April 7, at the FCMC Barmont conference rooms 1 & 2, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Sloan Auchincloss. Dump Cleanup Volunteers are needed to help remove an illegal dumpsite located on Frank Road, Thompson Township, Fulton County. The cleanup will be held Saturday, April 4, at 9:00 a.m. (raindate is Sunday, April 5, at 9:00 a.m.). Meet at the top of Frank Road in Thompson Township. From McConnellsburg take U.S. 522 south to PA 655 south to the intersection of Frank and Diehl roads in Covalt. From Hancock take I-70 north to exit 168/U.S. 522 south to PA 484. Follow PA 484 east across I-70 until it runs into PA 655 north. Follow to intersection with Frank and Diehl roads in Covalt. SF Pre-K Registration Southern Fulton School District will be having pre-K registration Monday, April 27. Anyone having a child child who will be 3 or 4 years old before September 1, 2009, should call the school at 717-294-3400 to schedule an appointment.

Hoof Discussion Having hoof problems? Plan to attend a workshop on hoof problems April 21 when Dr. Ernest Hovingh, Penn State University veterinarian, will be discussing issues of anatomy, hoof diseases. There will be discussions on infectious and metabolic diseases. Trimming demonstrations will be done utilizing cadaver hooves at this meeting. The workshop will be held April 21st at the Greg Strait residence north of McConnellsburg beginning at 10 a.m. Cost of this workshop is $10. Space is limited. Historical Society Library Fulton County Historical Society library has closed while the building is being renovated. Research books and genealogy materials will not be available for public use until the Fulton County Library renovation is completed in mid-summer. At that time the Historical Society library will reopen in a room on the second floor that will be accessible by elevator.

Angel Food Ministries There will be sign-up for the March menu and specials of Angel Food Ministries at the Fulton County Catholic Mission. The times will be on Tuesday, April 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Due to Holy Week there will be no orders taken on Thursday.) Also at Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church on Sturday, March 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. If you eat, you qualify. Further information may be obtained by calling Sister Margie at 485-5917.

Census Jobs Testing Census 2010 is already under way and local jobs are available. Jobs that are currently open in Fulton County pay $11.75- $13.25 per hour. these are field positions and include mileage at the federal rate. Training is required for which you receive the same rate of pay. Testing sites are currently located in McConnellsburg, Needmore and Harrisonville and will soon be at Warfordsburg and Hustontown as well. Weekend and evening tests are available. Practice tests may be found at testing locations as well as online at www.2010censusjobs.gov. Call 1- 866-861-2010 to get signed up at a local testing site and to find out what to bring. Christian School Open House Fulton County Community Christian School will host an open house for families who wish to obtain additional student enrollment information for the 2009-2010 school year on Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Families will be able to tour through the school and review the curriculum. Prekindergarten (4- year-olds) - grade 12 will be offered for the upcoming school year. Additional information may be obtained by calling the school at 717-573- 4400. The school is located at 8159 Great Cove Road (Route 522), Needmore.

Museum Open Saturday Fulton County All-Sports Museum and the McConnellsburg Alumni Museum will be open on Saturday, April 11, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the dodgeball tournament. Spring Card Workshop The Parks and Recreation Commission and Stampin' Up demonstrator Dana Smith will be holding a spring card workshop on Sunday, April 5, from 2-5 p.m. at old McConnellsburg High School. Projects will focus on Easter and Mother's and Father's Day. Cost is $15 for residents of Ayr, Dublin, Thompson, Taylor, Todd and Licking Creek townships and McConnellsburg boro. Cost to all others, including out-of-county, is $17. Registration and payment must be received by April 1. Only 10 slots open! Call 717-552-0071 to register.

AARP Tax Aide Free tax help for taxpayers with middle and low income will be available at the old Fulton Theatre, in back of F&M Bank on North Second Street, McConnellsburg, every Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Free e-filing. Taxes will be done for any age. No rentals, farms or businesses will be done. More information may be obtained by calling 987-3915. Do not have to be an AARP member. No parking on F&M's parking lot.
