Man Who Fled Court Before Sentence Captured
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say they've captured a Philadelphia man who allegedly slipped out of a federal courthouse during his sentencing hearing in a $100,000 identitytheft case.
Federal authorities say 30- year-old Charles McLaurin was captured during a high-speed chase Friday in West Philadelphia. They say they found stolen credit cards and other identification documents in the car.
McLaurin had been facing 10 years in prison after his December guilty plea, when he was put on house arrest.
Officials say he left the courthouse March 5 during a break in his sentencing hearing.
His mother, Gwenda Brown, is also charged in the case and remains a fugitive.
