Area Farmers Discuss Issues In Washington
A delegation of farmers representing the Fulton County Farm Bureau, along with several hundred other Farm Bureau members, converged on Washington, D.C., March 4-5 as part of a twoday National Legislative Conference, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. While in Washington, D.C., Farm Bureau members met with their congressional representatives to discuss current issues and priorities.
During a meeting with Rep. William "Bill" Shuster, Fulton County Farm Bureau President Reed Englert said that the subjects discussed included implementation of the new federal Farm Bill, broadband deployment, capital gains taxes, estate tax reform, food safety and labeling, immigration reform and a comprehensive energy policy.
County members who attended were Reed Englert, McConnellsburg; Rick Leese, Needmore; and Marlin Lynch, Warfordsburg.
