FFA Chapters Participate In Conference
Members from Warfordsburg and McConnellsburg FFA attended the State Legislative Leadership Conference (SLLC), in Harrisburg March 15-17. SLLC is a statewide conference sponsored by the PA State FFA Association, with more than 450 FFA members in attendance.
During this conference, students participated in learning the legislative process by acting as a member of the House of Representatives or the Senate. Students attended workshops where they were given bills in which they were able to make amendments using proper parliamentary procedure. Parliamentary procedure is a formal way of running a meeting using Robert's Rules of Order. Other workshops included proper etiquette and professional communication skills.
In addition to the workshops, the students also went on tours and to the Milton Hershey School and Chocolate World.
SLLC is a great and interesting way to learn how bills are passed and become a law, while at the same time meeting other FFA members from across the tate.
On Tuesday morning students had a chance to eat breakfast with their legislators and talk about current agricultural issues. After breakfast, the students toured the state Capitol.
