Margaret W. Wooley

Burnt Cabins, 90

Margaret W. Wooley, 90, formerly of Burnt Cabins, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Penn Hall where she had resided for the past eight years.

She was born October 9, 1918, in Rutland, Vt., to Edward and Frances (Sherman) White. She was married to Fred Wooley on June 6, 1942, and he passed away on August 14, 2000.

She was a social worker for periods of her life in different locations, including the McConnellsburg Head Start program in the mid-70's.

She was a member of Chambersburg Church of the Brethren. Because of her husband's service in the United States Coast Guard, she lived and raised her family all around the world. She was an avid reader, knitter, golfer and card player. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be lovingly remembered.

She is survived by her four children: Fred Wooley Jr., Yorkville, Calif.; Sarah Atkinson of Knightdale, N.C.; Anne Salzer of Anchorage, Alaska; and Susan Wooley of Greencastle; 10 grandchildren: John, Slava, Anna, Rebecca and Daniel Atkinson, Jean Atkinson Joyner, April Salzer Werner, Sarah Salzer Niwa, Steven Salzer and Dane Wooley Christensen; and four greatgrandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wooley Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Penn Hall Chapel. Rev. Harold Yeager and Rev. Darlene Stouffer will officiate.
