Ronald E. Speer
Ronald E. Speer, 65, Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va., and formerly of Waynesboro, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at the hospital.
Born October 8, 1943, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Clifford and Leatha Wilhide Speer.
He was a 1963 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He is survived by a sister, Darlene Snyder, Waynesboro; three brothers: Clifford Speer Jr., Mc- Connellsburg, and Gary L. Speer and Robert Speer, both of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Speer, and an infant sister.
Services were private. Pastor Barry Shank officiated. Burial was made in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. Military graveside honors were by the Honor Guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 of Chambersburg.
