JoAnn Bivens, 62, Hancock, Md., died Friday, March 13, 2009, at her home.
Born March 13, 1947, in Greenville, N.C. she was the daughter of Maxine Mazzel Moore, Greenville, N.C., and the late John Moore Jr.
She attended Baltimore area schools.
She was a cook for the Webster B. Harrison Post 326 American Legion, Hancock.
She attended Pleasant Grove Christian Church, Needmore, and Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, Hancock.
She was a 32-year member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Bivens, whom she married July 3, 1965, in Glen Burnie, Md.; four daughters: Cynthia Phillips, Waynesboro; Dawn Souders and Paula Bivens, both of Warfordsburg; and Angela Zies, Paw Paw, W.Va.; one sister, Marylena Hassel, Chesapeake, Va.; and a brother, John Moore, IV, Odessa, Texas; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Sunday, March 15, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Christian Church. Interment was private at the convenience of the family.
Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, was in charge of arrangements.
