Catherine Jean Bivens, 74, Big Cove Tannery, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Fulton County Medical Center.

She was born April 29, 1934, in McConnellsburg, the daughter of the late Howard and Bessie (Spidle) Clevenger. She was married to Parker Bivens on July 6, 1950.

She was a housewife and homemaker all her life.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Big Cove Tannery.

She is survived by her husband, Parker J. Bivens, Big Cove Tannery; two sons: Ronald E. Bivens, Gettysburg; and Kenneth R. (husband of Nancy) Bivens, Big Cove Tannery; three daughters: Myrna Gladfelter, McConnellsburg; Ruth Ellen Bivens, Big Cove Tannery; and Lori Fortney (companion of Phillip McQuade), McConnellsburg; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Peggy Headley, McConnellsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Bessie Clevenger, and two sisters, Janet Stenger and Carolyn Glenn, and one brother, Jacob Clevenger.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a,m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, McConnellsburg. Interment was at Union Cemetery. Rev. Russell Hoffman and Rev. William Swope officiated.
