Pa.'s Labor Secretary To Enter Alcohol Treatment
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Pennsylvania's acting labor and industry secretary says she's entering an alcohol treatment program following her arrest at a Harrisburg hotel bar.
Sandi Vito issued a public statement through her office Friday saying she was getting help and asking for understanding and patience.
Vito says Deputy Secretary Patrick Beaty is overseeing the department in her absence. Beaty is deputy secretary for unemployment compensation programs.
Harrisburg Police issued the 43-year-old woman a summary citation for public drunkenness after an incident at the Harrisburg Hilton on Wednesday night.
Vito's been acting secretary since February 2008 and is awaiting a Senate vote on her nomination to serve in the position on a permanent basis.
