Fulton County 4-H Establishes County Council

The first meeting of Fulton County 4-H County Council was convened on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Fulton Theatre. Each of the Fulton County 4-H clubs has selected two representatives who will work closely with adult leaders and the Penn State Cooperative Extension Office to advise and manage the county 4-H program.

"The purpose of a county council is to involve our youth members in the decision-making processes and to encourage them take ownership of the county program," said Lori Hansroth, 4-H youth development educator, "We are very excited about the establishment of the council and the new directions our 4-H members will be able to lead the program."

Attendees at the meeting included Whitney Fix and Justin Deshong of the Cove Mountain 4- H Club, Clarissa Barton of the Chuck Wagon Gang 4-H Club, Andrew Golden and Miranda Buterbaugh of the 4-H Shooting Club, and Ashlyn Buterbaugh of the Licking Creek Little Critters 4-H Club, as well as Terry Fix, president of the Fulton County 4- H Program Development Committee, Lori Hansroth and several interested parents.

The next meeting of the Fulton County 4-H County Council will be on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. The location is yet to be determined. For more information cal 485-4111.
