Ethel L. Glessner

Ethel L. Glessner, 89, Shippensburg, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in Shippensburg Health Care Center.

Born October 29, 1919, in Concord, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Frank W. and Cora M. Widney Harris.

She was a lifelong member of Shippensburg First Church of God and their Kids, Sons and Daughters Sunday School Class. She was a past president of the ladies auxiliary of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, and a member and former officer of the First Court Chapter 470 Order of the Eastern Star, both in Shippensburg.

She loved to bowl, play bingo and was especially happy to entertain family, children and grandchildren on holidays. She served as many as 47 in her home during Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Surviving are her husband, Glen L. Glessner. They celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on February 6, 2009, in the Health Care Center. Also surviving is a son, Dennis L. Glessner; three daughters: Sondra J. Stevens, Vivian C. Myers and her husband, Charlie, all of Shippensburg; and Anita L. Beam and her husband, John, Mc- Connellsburg; a sister, M. Grace Miller, Carlisle; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Harris, Newburg; daughter-in-law Diane Glessner, Shippensburg; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 9, in Fogelsanger- Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg. Rev. Paul K. Hauk officiated. Burial was made in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
