Book Drive Under Way For Legal Services

Hundreds of local residents have already responded to the book drive for the 25th annual Friends of Legal Services book sale, which began last month. "We are grateful for the wonderful donations of books we have received so far, and welcome new and used books, both hardbound and paperback, as well as magazines dated before 1950, sheet music, maps, audio cassettes, videotapes, and CDs," said Carolyn Carter, one of the volunteers. She urged members of the public to donate their books before the book drive ends on April 24.

Book donation sites, which are located throughout Franklin, Cumberland, and Adams counties, can be found at www.fcls.net or by calling Franklin County Legal Services at 717-262-2326. "Our thanks go out to the many local businesses and offices that have acted as book donation sites this year and in previous years," said Carter. "By supporting our book sale, they are promoting both literacy and a terrific community event."ran

The sale, south central Pennsylvania's largest, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, in Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. Proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations that provide legal services to low-income residents and victims of domestic violence.
