Man Sentenced In Partner's Shoving Death
SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania man who pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of his partner has been sentenced to 41/2 years to 10 years in state prison.
Prosecutors say 47-year-old Ronald Raymond Miller, of Friedens, shoved 47-year-old Ralph Peck, of Somerset, off a barn ramp and left him for dead on June 9 after the two argued about their relationship. Peck fell about seven feet and died of head trauma after hitting some rocks.
Miller entered the plea in December, saying he did not intend to kill Peck. State police say he told investigators that he later checked on Peck before leaving for work and thought the victim was still breathing.
Defense attorney Mike Kuhn says Miller had expressed remorse from the start of the case.
