This past week, Forbes Road FFA celebrated National FFA week through many events and fun activities.

The chapter sponsored a canned food drive that challenged homerooms to bring in the most canned food for the Fulton County Food Basket. The winning homeroom enjoyed an ice cream party complements of the FFA.

In addition, daily trivia contests were held at lunch where students could answer agriculture and wildlife trivia questions for a chance at coupons to local restaurants or stores. Coupons from Mc- Donald's in McCon-nellsburg; Mama's Pizza, McConnellsburg; Kendras in McConnellsburg; and coffee mugs from Sheetz in Breezewood were given away each day.

Each day, careers in agriculture were spotlighted ,giving students an idea of the many opportunities agriculture offers.

The highlight of the week for a lot of FFA members and elementary students seemed to be the presentations that the members gave to the elementary classes on such topics of agriculture as ice cream making, veterinary science and wildlife. The members visited 12 elementary classes throughout the week.

In addition, this week, FFA members have volunteered as service persons for a day and their time on March 6 will go to the highest bidder for various chores such as carrying books, etc. All proceeds from the day of service day will also go to the Fulton County Food Basket.
