Pa. Woman Acquitted Of Neglect In Father's Death
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - An Allentown woman has been cleared of charges of neglecting her 94-year-old father, who died a month after she left him alone for a day.
Veronica Rohrer wept after jurors acquitted her following three hours of deliberation on Friday. She had been charged with neglect of a care-dependent person and reckless endangerment. An attempted homicide charge was dismissed last year.
Authorities said Rohrer left her father, Adolph Marks, in a dark room in February 2007 while she was supposed to be caring for him in his South Whitehall Township home.
Juror Vince Fazio said prosecutors failed to prove that Rohrer intended to harm her father or that her actions injured him.
