Cop Gets 18-48 Months In Teen Sex Case
ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - A former Altoona police officer has been sentenced to 18 months to 4 years in prison for having sex with a 16-year-old Indiana girl he met online.
Fifty-year-old Herrick Johnson asked for probation and said he wouldn't contact the girl anymore. Police say he met her through a site promoting law enforcement careers.
Johnson pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of minors in December. He was sentenced Friday.
The Dyer, Ind., girl has a history of mental illness and family problems. Her father says she's obsessed with Johnson and plans to move to Altoona and have children with him when she turns 18.
He says Johnson, who was ordered by Indiana courts to stay away from the girl, thumbed his nose at the family and the law by repeatedly sending her text messages.
