Homer C. Mong Sr.
Homer C. "Doc" Mong Sr., 76, Waynesboro, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Chambersburg Hospital.
Born August 29, 1932, in Ringgold, he was the son of the late David E. and Lillian E. Kendall Mong.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred C. Gardenhour Mong.
He was self-employed as a concrete contractor.
Surviving are four daughters: Mary A. Gilbert and Cathy J. Fields, both of Chambersburg; Joycene Ray, Zullinger, and Lillian M. Patteson, Bath, Pa.; seven sons: Robert L., Homer C. Jr., and Brian K. Mong, all of Chambersburg; Roger A., William T. and Mark E. Mong, all of Waynesboro, and James A. Mong, Harrisonville; four sisters: Sylvia Weaver and Rebecca Heefner, both of Waynesboro; Margaret Bennett, Prattville, Ala.; and Helen McCardell, Chambersburg; 16 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Weaver and Catherine Wolfe; and six brothers: Paul, Elmer, Richard, Sydney, David and Joseph Mong.
Funeral services wee held Monday, February 23, at 10:30 a.m., at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Gregory Helman officiated. Burial was made in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.
