Master Gardeners Graduate

SPECIAL TO THE NEWS

Penn State Cooperative Extension Office is proud to announce that several local residents are now official Penn State Cooperative Extension master gardeners. Through the advances of technology, these residents were able to take the 12- week master gardener class at the Fulton County Cooperative Extension Office using Video Teleconferencing.

The fall/winter 2008 master gardener class included Jim and Marian Sickles, Kathaleen O'Connor, Donna Shasserre, Linda Kasper and Anne Comins. The class is being mentored by current master gardeners Monica Schall, Lorraine Milroth, Lori Glazier and Will Ford.

As part of the master gardener requirement, the group will be providing service hours to the community. Its first service project will be to design small gardens and landscape features at the Mc- Connellsburg Little League fields in cooperation with retired county extension director Don Fowler. The group will staff the master gardener hotline later this spring to answer questions from the public on gardening topics.

Anyone interested in becoming a master gardener should call 717-485-4111 to be placed on the contact list for the next class offering.
