Girls Basketball

Carlisle Christian 44, FCCCS 32

Fulton County Community Christian School managed to stage a comeback in the fourth quarter of Friday evening's game, but it wasn't enough to prevail over non-league rivals from Carlisle Christian. During the 44- 32 loss, Charger Josie Spade netted 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Whitney Shultz added eight points, and Jenae Gordon and Bethany Myers both finished with five.

Southern Fulton 43,

Chestnut Ridge 32

Southern Fulton picked up its 10th straight win last Wednesday night and increased its nearly perfect season record to 19-2 with a 43-32 win over Chestnut Ridge. Lacey Beatty led the Indians with 16 points and five steals, while Chelsey Hollenshead added nine points. Brooke Whiteside and Keena Elbin both finished with seven points.

McConnellsburg 38,

Belleville Mennonite 30

After lagging behind by seven points, the McConnellsburg Spartans poured on the offense and ended their non-league game against Belleville Mennonite with an eight-point win last Tuesday. Casey Pollock netted 15 points to lead the Spartans, and teammates J.J. DeShong and Michelle Baker both threw in seven points. Baker also had four steals and four assists.


Bedford County Christian 27

Jenae Gordon racked up 28 points, set a new school record and aided her Fulton County Community Christian School teammates onto a 60-27 victory over Bedford County Christian last Tuesday. Josie Spade was the next highest scorer, netting 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Andrea Leedy finished the match with five points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Fannett-Metal 40,

McConnellsburg 22

The McConnellsburg Spartans finished their season with a 10-12 record last Thursday evening with a 40-22 Sideling Hill League loss to the Fannett-Metal Tigers. Casey Pollock paved the way with a total of eight points. Courtney McClure and Michelle Baker both added five points.

Southern Fulton 62,

Forbes Road 25

With only one win under its belt this season, Forbes Road had a dismal outing against Southern Fulton last Thursday evening. In the meantime, Southern Fulton's 62-25 win gave the Indians their 11th consecutive win and allowed them a threeway tie for the Sideling Hill League title. Brooke Whiteside netted 14 points to lead the way for the Indians, while Chelsey Hollenshead nailed 12 points, pulled down 17 rebounds and grabbed eight steals. Lacey Beatty hit double digits with 10 points, and Ky Fraker led the Cardinals with nine points.

Highland View Academy 47,


Two of the Fulton County Community Christian School Chargers attained double figures last Thursday night, but the short-handed Chargers were unable to fend off Highland View Academy, which wrapped up the non-league game with a 20-point victory. Josie Spade managed 13 points and seven rebounds, and teammate Jenae Gordon followed with 10 points.

Forbes Road 57,

Southern Fulton 45

Forbes Road concluded regular season play Friday night with a huge and timely victory over the Southern Fulton Indians. Tanner Henry rallied for 20 points for the victorious Cardinals during the Sideling Hill League match and also pulled down nine rebounds. Brandon Mellott netted 13 points, dished out three assists and made three steals, and Trent Black added 12 points. Derek Younker had 13 points for the Indians, who also got 12 points from Josh Hall.

Fannett-Metal 57,

McConnellsburg 35

McConnellsburg suffered its sixth consecutive loss Friday night with a 22-point loss to the Fannett-Metal Tigers. Codey Christy finished the league game with 11 points for the Spartans, and Evan Appleby added seven points.

FCCCS 48, Carlisle Christian 38

In spite of a low scoring fourth quarter last Friday, the Fulton County Community Christian School Chargers still managed to prevail over Carlisle Christian by a final score of 48-38. Skylar Gordon posted some impressive numbers with 17 points, and T.J. Leedy managed 13 points and 14 rebounds. Kenny Lininger also finished in double digits with 10.


Highland View Academy 23

Fulton County Community Christian School jumped out to a 17-point lead early on and cruised to a decisive 57-23 point victory over Highland View Academy last Thursday. T.J. Leedy posted 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Skylar Gordon had 14 for the Chargers.

Forbes Road 70,

Chestnut Ridge 51

After trailing early on, Forbes Road netted big points in the second quarter to end Wednesday night's game over Chestnut Ridge and former coach Randy Meck with an easy 70-51 Sideling Hill League victory. Teammates Trent Black and Jesse Newman both rallied for 19 points, and Black also added seven assists and 10 rebounds. Brandon Mellott followed with 12 points and five steals, and Tanner Henry had 10 points.


Bedford County Christian 19

The Fulton County Community Christian School Chargers ran away with a 51-point victory last Tuesday night, trouncing Bedford County Christian 70-19. Seth Gordon posted 24 points, and T.J. Leedy netted 14 points, pulled down 14 boards, dished out five assists and made five steals. Caleb Myers also reached double digits tossing in a total of 10 points.

Tussey Mountain 57,

Southern Fulton 46

The Southern Fulton Indians trailed by 10 points into the halftime break and were never able to recover against Tussey Mountain, which won last Tuesday's Sideling Hill League match 57-46. Luke Mellott tallied 16 points and 17 rebounds during the Indians' loss, and Josh Hall contributed 14 points.

Northern Bedford 63,

Forbes Road 47

The Forbes Road Cardinals 2009-10 season record dropped to an even .500 last Tuesday with a 63-47 loss to the Northern Bedford Panthers. Trent Black posted a double-double after recording 11 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks. Jesse Newman and Brandon Mellott had 12 and 11 points, respectively during the Sideling Hill League game.

Hyndman 45, McConnellsburg 36

McConnellsburg got off to a slow start last Tuesday and dropped the Sideling Hill League match to the Hyndman Hornets by the score of 45-36. Ryan Defibaugh led his Spartan teammates with 21 points, nine rebounds and eight steals. Evan Appleby was the next highest scorer with six points.

Southern Fulton 49,

Forbes Road 44

After defeating the Southern Fulton Indians Friday night, the tables were turned on the Forbes Road Cardinals only days later when the Indians prevailed by five-points to move into the quarterfinal round of District 5-A playoffs. Josh Wertz was the lead scorer for the Indians with 12 points, and teammate Josh Hall added 11. Andrew Merica and Derek Younker had nine and eight points respectively. For the Cardinals, Tanner Henry posted 17 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots. Trent Black had 14 points, and Jesse Newman followed with six.
