William F.C. Frey
Born September 25, 1921, in Philadelphia, he was the only child of the late William H. and Pauline K. (Sautter) Frey.
He was a graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia in 1939 and the University of Pennsylvania in 1951 with a B.A. degree. He received his pilot's license in 1941 at Philadelphia Airport. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Force, serving as a flight instructor at Gettysburg until August 1944, then served as a radio operator on Guam until honorably discharged in August 1946 with the rank of staff sergeant.
He married Marion Ella Nesbitt in McConnellsburg on July 3, 1948. After the war, he continued operating his father's plumbing, heating and roofing business in Philadelphia until he entered government service, retiring from the Naval Publications and Forms Center in Philadelphia in 1988. After retirement, he and Marion moved to Grand Junction, Colo., in 1990 to be near their oldest son, William H.T. Frey, and his family. They moved back to Pennsylvania in 2006, relocating to Marion's childhood home, the Nesbitt farm in Mc- Connellsburg, operated by Thurman E. Nesbitt III and Vickie Mills.
He is survived by his two sons: William H.T. (husband of Kathleen) Frey of Grand Junction, Colo.; and Craig D. (husband of Denise J.) Frey of Huntingdon Valley, Pa.; five grandchildren: William F.K. (husband of Robynn) Frey and their four children: Rachel, Ruth, Danielle and Ashlynn; Jesse D., Jason E., Melody P. and Andrew J. William; one brother-in-law, C. William (husband of Arlene) Nesbitt of McConnellsburg, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion N. Frey, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2009, at 6:00 p.m., at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home Inc., in McConnellsburg, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. An interment service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn, Pa., at 11:00 a.m.
