Wayne C. Deshong
Wayne Chalmers Deshong, 73, Big Pool, Md., died Thursday, February 12, 2009, at his home.
Born August 29, 1935, in Harrisonville, he was the son of the late Chester W. and Melva Harriet Deshong.
His hobby was truck driving. He was employed as a truck driver by Raylock, retiring after 48 years.
He was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
He was a member of The Improved Order of Red Men Conococheague Tribe 84 of Williamsport and the American Legion in McConnellsburg.
He was a NASCAR fan and Dale Earnhardt Sr. was his favorite driver.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Deshong; two daughters: Doris Ann Lewis, Hagerstown, and her fiance, Kenneth Hovermale, and Diane Kay Richardson, Hagerstown; two sons: Gary Wayne Deshong of Berkeley Springs and Glenn Ray Deshong, Hagerstown, and his fiance, Shirley Steele; three granddaughters: Ashley Marie Lewis and Trista Diana Kershner, both of Hagerstown; and Stacey Lynn Carbaugh, Greencastle; and two great-grandchildren: Peyton RayAnn Swope and Charles Randall Kershner, both of Hagerstown.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Norma "Polly" Truax; two brothers: Robert C. and Norman Paul Deshong; a granddaughter, Lisa Ann Lewis; a grandson, Charles E. Richardson Jr.; daughter-in-law Linda G. Deshong; and son-in-law Charles E. Richardson Sr.
Graveside services were held Monday, February 19, at 1:00 p.m. in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown. Pastor Lynn Munson and Pastor Jeffery Anthony officiated.
