Goldie Clara Rachel Henry, 86, formerly of McConnellsburg, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center in Chambersburg.
She was born October 1, 1922, in Needmore, the daughter of the late John and Luella (Hann) Mellott. She was married to the late William R. Henry.
She was employed by various sewing factories, including Sagner in McConnellsburg, as a seamstress. In 1986, she retired from Fulton County Medical Center where she worked in the dietary department as a cook. She was a member of the VFW Auxillary. She enjoyed spending time traveling, reading and crocheting.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra K Smith (wife of Glenn A.) Souders, of Jefferson, Md.; one granddaughter, Jennifer R. (wife of Michael A.) Conner of Brunswick, Md.; one grandson, Christopher A. (husband of Shannon L.) Souders, Thurmont, Md.; and five great-grandchildren: Zachary, Kyle, Cameron, Elisabeth and Wyatt. She is also survived by two sisters: Dollie G. Keith, Chambersburg, and Esta (wife of Robert) Pittman, McConnellsburg; four brothers: Preston A. Mellott, Mc- Connellsburg; Frank E. Mellott, McConnellsburg; Stanley E. Mellott, McConnellsburg; and Chalmer M. Mellott, Clear Ridge; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Henry; her parents, John and Luella Mellott; two brothers: Lee F. Mellott and James B. "Jim" Mellott; one niece, Karen L. Gress, and one nephew, Barry L. Mellott.
Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m.., Saturday, February 7, 2009, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg. Interment was at Union Cemetery. Rev. John Godissart officiated.
