Employee Stole $101K From Parking Meters
NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) - The former head of a parking authority in western Pennsylvania is accused of stealing more than $101,000 from the city's parking meters.
Thirty-three-year-old Gary Stone Jr., of New Castle, was laid off last year when the city was declared a financially distressed under state Act 47.
Lawrence County officials say Stone stole the money when he headed the authority beginning in 2006. They say he submitted $71 in meter receipts for 2006 and $271 for 2007.
When police took over the meter collections for the first time last year, they collected more than $54,000.
