Morton and Novak Going To Hoop Shoot States

Kierstyn Morton Kierstyn Morton On January 25, 2009, at Carlisle High School, Kierstyn Morton, daughter of Allen and Kelly Morton, Needmore, and Chase Novak, son of Jim and Sandy Novak, McConnellsburg, placed first in the South Central District Elks Hoop Shoot competition.

Kierstyn, in the 8-9-yearold girls division, shot 9 out of 25 and Chase, in the 10-11- year-old boys division, shot 20 out of 25 to attain the 2009 championship title.

Kierstyn and Chase will represent the South Central District and Chambersburg Lodge # 600 in the Pennsylvania state competition on March 7, 2009 at State College.

Kylie Pittman, daughter of Tammy and Kevin Pittman, McConnellsburg, placed second in the 10-11- year-old girls division; Brycen Hohman, son of Kristi and Hubbie, Hustontown, placed third in the 8-9-year-old boys division; Beau Wilson, son of Jolinda and Larry Wilson, McConnellsburg, placed fourth in the 12-13-year-old division; and Jennae Piper, daughter of Tia and Jon Piper, Mercersburg, placed fifth in the 12-13-year-old girls division.

This year a booster and a good luck page will be added to the state program. Anyone wanting to wish Kierstyn or Chase good luck by placing an ad or becoming a booster in this year's program can mail it and a check to Steven Lucas, State Hoop Shoot Chairman, RD 1 Box 593, Tyrone, PA 16686. The cost to be a booster (your name) is $5 and $10 for the good luck ad (Ex.: Good Luck, Kierstyn and Chase, Chambersburg Lodge # 600). Deadline for ads is February 18, 2009.
