Man Convicted Of Killing Daughter-In-Law
(AP) - An eastern Pennsylvania man has been convicted of killing his daughter-in-law after the two were drinking in October 2007.
Jurors deliberated for more than three hours before convicting 61-year-old Burl Corbett, of Birdsboro, of first-degree murder on Friday in the death of 32- year-old Carolyn Corbett.
Authorities say the two argued at a bar and then went to his farmhouse, where the woman was shot.
Assistant Public Defender Craig Snyder argued that his client acted in self-defense after the woman attacked him with a knife.
Burl Corbett testified that he was angry because he thought she was stealing from him and cheating on his son.
He remains in Berks County prison without bail awaiting sentencing.
