County Awarded Federal Funds

Fulton County has been chosen to receive $14,288 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.

A local board made up of a county commissioner, Mc- Connellsburg Ministerium, Christian Social Services, Fulton County Food Basket, American Red Cross, and Fulton County Catholic Mission/ Salvation Army will determine how the funds awarded to Fulton County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area. The local board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds and any additional funds available under the program.

Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must be private voluntary nonprofit or units of government; have an accounting system; practice nondiscrimination; have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.

Fulton County has distributed emergency food and shelter funds previously with the Fulton County Food Basket, Christian Social Services, and Fulton County Catholic Mission/ The Salvation Army participating. These agencies were responsible for providing food, rental and utility assistance.
