Friends Of Legal Services Sets Book Drive Dates

The Franklin County Friends of Legal Services group has set February 17 through April 24 as the dates for the book drive for its 25th annual book sale. "Look for the book donation boxes in stores, banks and offices throughout the area starting February 1-17," said Carolyn Carter, a volunteer with the organization. "This sale, our 25th, will mark a quarter century of service to the community, and we are profoundly grateful to the dozens of book donation sites, thousands of book donors, and tens of thousands of patrons who have helped make our sale such a wonderful event."

The book donation sites will be announced in early February. In the meantime, anyone with a large quantity of books to donate can make special arrangements by calling Franklin County Legal Services at 717-262-2326 or by emailing gkeener@fcls.net.

The sale itself will take place on Mother's Day weekend at Laird Hall on the Wilson College campus in Chambersburg. The sale will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. The groups expects to display more than 50,000 books of all types, sorted into more than 50 categories, plus maps, sheet music, audiotapes, CDs, and videotapes. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit organizations that provide legal services to low-income residents and victims of domestic violence.
