Paul A. McCarty Hancock, 77
Born April 12, 1931, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of the late Earl N. and Margaret E. Starliper McCarty.
He attended Hancock area schools.
He served in Germany during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
He retired May 1, 1994, after 26 years with General Motors in Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1590; Tonoloway Rod & Gun Club, Hancock; Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, Hancock; AARP; and a former member of Hancock Volunteer Fire Co.
He was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he was a former member of the Vestry.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. Shoemaker McCarty, whom he married December 31, 1951, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church; three daughters: Kathy McCarty Santa Barbara and husband Michael of Martinsburg, W.Va.; Patricia McCarty Morelock and husband John of Topeka, Kan.; Janie McCarty Henry and husband Greg, Berkeley Springs; a sister, Mary Ann Mortzfeldt, Hancock; a brother, Donald L. McCarty Sr., Hancock; and two granddaughters: Caitlin Santa Barbara and Meghan Santa Barbara, both of Martinsburg, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Harold McCarty Sr., Otho McCarty, George Mc- Carty, Charles McCarty and Roger McCarty.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2 E. High St., Hancock, Md. Rev. F. Allan Weatherholt Jr. will officiate. Burial with a military service by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Hoome, Hancock, Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
