Shuster Announces Series Of DHS Fire Grant Workshops
Congressman Bill Shuster is pleased to announce that the Department of Homeland Security is receiving applications for a series of workshops that will be held across the country for first responders interested in the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP).
Beginning next month and continuing through the middle of March 2009, workshops will be around the country to provide information about the submission of competitive applications under Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. Interested representatives from fire departments as well as representatives from nonaffiliated EMS organizations are invited to attend the workshops.
Information will be presented on program changes, program priorities, eligibility requirements and on the application process. Also, general assistance in the writing of a competitive narrative for a department's grant application will be discussed. Registration for these two-hour workshops is not necessary and they will be held free of charge.
Congressman Shuster has helped local fire companies secure millions of dollars for much needed equipment and training through this competitive grant program and encourages all local fire and EMS companies to take advantage of this great opportunity.
Fire and EMS companies interested in taking part in the workshops scheduled for Pennsylvania are encouraged to log onto the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program Web site at www.firegrantsupport.com/work shop/display/workshops.aspx for more information.
