We sort of got a sample of 'Ole Man Winter with chilly breezes

over the weekend. Maybe it will be a bit warmer this week.

We extend sympathy to the family and relatives of Nathan Henry, who passed away on Saturday.

We are sorry to hear Lester Swope has not been so well. We send get well wishes to him.

Lots of birthdays this month. Happy birthday wishes to Lloyd Covert on his 90th birthday on January 22; June Bennett on January 22; Herbert Berkstresser on January 22; Barbara Torcasco on January 23; Pam Karczewski and Pam Plante on January 24.

We send get well wishes to Ann Hawkins and Alice Sipes, who have not been feeling so well.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor an open stage on Saturday, January 24. The kitchen opens at 5:00 p.m. Music starts at 6:00 p.m. Come in out of the cold and join them for the evening.

Hustontown Fir Co. will sponsor a quarter beef shoot on Saturday, January 31. Twelve-, 16- and 20-gauge shells will be furnished. Various meat prizes will be awarded for normal shoot. The last round will be for a quarter of beef. Shooters must shoot all 11 rounds to qualify for the beef round. Guns with less than a 640 choke or sleeved guns will not be permitted. If in doubt, guns may be checked day of shoot.

Todd Fix and Mike Mellott, formerly of Hustontown and avid Pittsburgh Steelers fans, attended the Steelers games at Pittsburgh the last two Sundays.

We send speedy recovery wishes to Alice Chesnut on her recent eye surgery.

Household hint: Pie dough can be frozen. Roll dough out between sheets of plastic wrap, stack in pizza box and keep box in the freezer. Defrost in the fridge and use as needed. Use within two months. Also, when baking in a glass pan, reduce the oven temperature by 25 degrees.
