Wells Valley

By Stacey Mellott

The Wells Tannery Luminary committee wishes to thank everyone who helped with the luminaries. It turned out to be the roughest weather in recent years, so the hard decision was made to save the candles for next year since they have become so ex- pensive. We did a test and out of

four candles, only one was burning in a couple hours with all the

rain we were receiving. Also, the safety of the crew - the danger of falling on the ice that coated the roadsides and the possibility of a vehicle sliding into one of the volunteers - was a major part of the decision. The guys did do a great job of making the star on the ball field and hope everyone saw it! Best wishes for the New Year from the Luminary Gang.

We have included a financial report so that everyone can see how the fund stands.

The balance as of 2007 was $2700, after disposing of the old candles at the land fill the balance was $250. Expenses for new candles in 2008 were $415 and lighters were 30.00. The amount donated by residents in 2008 was $456.00. The remaining balance of the luminary fund is $326.00.
