Bonnie A. Sipes
Bonnie Asenath Sipes, 85, a resident of Aprontree Personal Care Home, Spring Run, Pa., and formerly of Harrisonville, died Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the home.
She was born in Adel, Iowa, June 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Edith (Sayre) Cutchall. She was the wife of Howard L. Sipes, whom she married August 1, 1942.
She was a member of Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star Hancock Chapter 103 and was a past vice chairman of the Fulton County Democratic Committee. She worked at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown and Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg during World War II, was a library aide at Green Hill Elementary School and was secretary at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville, for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters: Penelope A. (wife of Gary) Shives, Harrisonville; Katherine A. (wife of Ronnie) Carmack, Harrisonville; sisters: Evelyn Gobin, Harrisonville and Pauline Kopec, Chapel Hill, N.C.; grandsons: Jason L. (husband of Stephanie) Shives and Adam S. Carmack; granddaughter, Kara E. Carmack and great-granddaughter Gracie Maye Shives.
She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy G. Sipes, and a brother, Wayne Cutchall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 8, at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore. Rev. William Swope will officiate. Burial will be made in Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore.
There will be visitation on Wednesday, January 7, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
