Representatives of the Hustontown and Needmore volunteer fire companies accept checks in the amount of $15,000 each from the Arthur and Ruth Schmidt Community Trust committee. The donation was made at the office of trust committee member attorney Jim Schall in McConnellsburg December 30 and was given in support of the two companies' building projects. Disbanded force wins concessions on leave payout, insurance and pensions

All end-of-contract issues for the disbanded McConnellsburg Borough Police Department have been settled as a result of a ruling made following binding arbitration held in December of last year. J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Safe Kids of Huntingdon County have presented J.C. Blair's New Year's Baby Levi David Hunsinger of Three Springs with a newborn health and safety package of gifts. Levi arrived at 1:18 a.m. January 3, 2009, to become J.C. Blair's first delivery of the new year. He weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 20 inches long when delivered by obstetrician/gynecologist Stephen Graham.
