Hustontown

By Kate Berkstresser

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas in celebration of the Savior's birth. Now we look forward to entering 2009. Hope everyone has a nice New Year and also a good year ahead. Some folks were hoping for a white Christmas.

Sorry to hear Betty Malot is not feeling up to good health. We hope she will be on the well list soon. Her grandson, Timothy Funk of Arizona, is spending a few days with her and the Clem Malot family.

Belated happy birthday to Tracy Cook on December 23 and happy birthday wishes to Trent Black on January 1.

Christams Day dinner guests in the home of Harvey and Pat Berkstresser were Shawn, Jackie and Ryan Berkstresser of Slippery Rock and Lloyd Covert, Kate Berkstresser, and Danny and Brooke Sheeder.

Hustontown Fire Co. will sponsor a hog shoot on January 1 at 1:00 p.m. for 12-, 16- and 20- gauge guns. Must shoot all 11 rounds to qualify. So, sharpshooters, go out and try your luck and support the fire company.

Happy New Year to all and hope as you plan the year 2009 you will have a good year. It's hard to believe that 2008 went by so fast.

Household hint: Need to sew on buttons? Use dental floss as it is stronger than regular thread. It works well for children's clothing and work clothes.
