McConnellsburg Man Released After Altercation
Twenty-six-year-old David Truax of McConnellsburg was arraigned on charges of domestic assault, reckless endangerment and harassment last Monday and has been released on $25,000 unsecured bail. Truax was allegedly involved in an altercation at Hillside Estates on December 15 at 5:54 p.m. with an individual, whose name was withheld by state police.
Three Collide In Accident On I-70
Three vehicles were involved in a freak accident along Interstate 70 just south of Mill Hill Road on Tuesday, December 16. According to state police, a westbound 2006 Ford F-250 was pulled onto the berm for its driver to engage four-wheel drive when the man slipped on the running board and accidentally knocked the truck into reverse.
The truck, state police noted, drove in reverse onto the roadway where it struck the front driver's side corner of a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban and the front end of a 2004 Peterbilt Conventional tractor-trailer. None of the drivers' names were released by state police following the 7:25 p.m. accident.
Vehicle Strikes Ditch
A 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee spun off the snow-covered roadway last Tuesday and struck a ditch along Interstate 70 in Brush Creek Township. The vehicle sustained minor damage in the 3:45 p.m. crash. State police did not release the name of the driver involved in the crash.
Vehicle Crosses Embankment
An Everett, Pa., woman was charged with driving a vehicle at safe speeds after her westbound 2000 Lincoln LS left Interstate 70, drove over an embankment and struck a guiderail last Tuesday. Driver Megan J. Faupel, 23, was not injured in the 4:20 p.m. crash in Brush Creek Township. She was wearing a seat belt.
With snow and ice covering Interstate 70, two men escaped injury when their vehicles collided along the eastbound lanes in Bethel Township last Tuesday.
State police reported 19-yearold Joshua J. Burchfield of Concord, N.C., lost control of his 2003 Honda Accord at 2:50 p.m. while changing lanes to pass a 2007 Mack CXN-610 driven by Duncan E. Blades, 36, of Williamsport, Md. Burchfield's car spun out of control and struck the front passenger side wheel of Blade's Mack truck. Neither man was injured and both were wearing seat belts. Burchfield will be charged with driving a vehicle at safe speeds.
Nothing Taken In Burglary
Thirty-nine-year-old Randy A. King of Hustontown informed state police a burglar forced open the front door of his 645 Timbers Edge Drive home on Wednesday, December 17, between 3:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. Nothing was taken during the break-in. Windows were broken at the Grist Mill Road, Burnt Cabins, home of Albert Shore on Sunday, December 14, a 9:21 p.m. Damage has been estimated at $150. McConnellsburg Man Arrested For Assault
Sixty-two-year-old Howard "Pat" Seburn of McConnellsburg Borough has been charged with simple assault and harassment in connection with an incident that occurred earlier this year at 124 West Walnut Street, Mc- Connellsburg. State police reported Seburn allegedly struck Rex Akers Jr., 25, of Todd Township in the face with a checkerboard. Akers sustained a fractured facial bone and was treated at the hospital. CB radios belonging to Randy Ward, 52, of Warfordsburg and Frostburg, Md., resident Michael Sheeder, 33, were stolen from vehicles parked at the intersection of routes 484 and 522 between midnight on December 12 and 4 a.m. on December 15. A building located at 2656 Harmonia Road, Warfordsburg, was broken into and ransacked at 11 p.m. on Monday, December 15. Victim was 76-year-old Warfordsburg resident Kenneth Hixon. Twenty-year-old McConnellsburg resident Robert John Clark was cited for harassment after he allegedly threw a chair at Stephanie Ann Starr, 23, of Mc- Connellsburg, during an argument at a location along West Walnut Street, McConnellsburg, on Tuesday, December 16, at 12:07 p.m.
W.Va. Man Cited For Trespassing
Stephen D. Stolipher of Charleston, W.Va., was recently cited for criminal trespassing as a result of an incident at 405 Pyle Drive in McConnellsburg. According to state police, Stolipher, 36, allegedly trespassed on the property of 60-year-old Vincent W. Joyce of McConnellsburg on Tuesday, December 9, at 2:10 p.m. after repeatedly being told to leave.
Truck Strikes Tree
A 33-year-old Hustontown man suffered minor injuries when his southbound 2008 Ford F-550 travelled down an embankment and struck a tree on Tuesday, December 16. Driver Timothy L. McGowan was not wearing a seat belt when he lost control of his truck on snow-covered North Valley Road in Brush Creek Township. He will be cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic in conjunction with the 11:30 a.m. crash. State police were assisted on the scene by Fischer's Garage and PennDOT.
McConnellsburg Woman Involved In Franklin County Crash
A 1994 Ford Ranger driven by Sherry R. Black, 39, of Mc- Connellsburg was struck by a westbound 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier attempting to make a lefthand turn from Main Street in Peters Township and into a driveway on Tuesday, December 2. Fellow motorist Renee Cuff, 18, of Fort Loudon suffered minor injuries during the 3:40 p.m. twovehicle collision.
Cash Taken From Purse
An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the purse of Heather Nicole Swope, 19, of Mc- Connellsburg. The theft at Mc- Donald's in McConnellsburg occurred between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 18. Ex-Husband Accused Of Identity Theft
An ex-husband of a Geneseo, Ill., woman has been accused of identity theft in connection with an incident that occurred on Tuesday, December 9, at 2:44 p.m. at 533 East Poplar Street, McConnellsburg. Larry Charles Souders Jr., 36, of McConnellsburg is accused of fraudulently opening a Sprint cellphone account under the name of Misty Lynn Souders, 40.
DUI Charges Pending
Charges of driving under the influence are currently pending against Elton Eugene Guyer, 47, of McConnellsburg. Guyer was stopped by law enforcement officials at the intersection of Cito Road and Thorton Drive in Ayr Township on Friday, December 12, at 3:19 p.m. Charges against Guyer will be filed through the office of Magisterial District Judge Wendy Mellott. Five Hancock, Md., residents and a Needmore man face charges ranging from harassment to terroristic threats in connection with an argument that occurred at 9074 Great Cove Road in Belfast Township on Friday, December 19, at 10:50 a.m.
Tom Flowers, Eric Powell, Beverly Powell, Joyce Cubbage and Bob Cubbage, all of Hancock, will be charged with harassment for the fight that escalated into physical contact. Victim was Darren Hamil of Needmore. Meanwhile, Hamil will be charged with making terroristic threats against Tom Flowers and Beverly Powell.
Harrisonville Man Arrested For DUI
Twenty-four-year-old Dustin Sowers of Harrisonville was arrested by state police for driving under the influence as a result of a vehicle stop for code violations along Route 522 in Dublin Township. The traffic stop occurred on Saturday, December 20, at 2:15 a.m.
Charges Pending In Vehicle Collision
Charges of driving on roadways laned for traffic are pending against a Newburg, Pa., woman following a single-vehicle crash along Route 522 on Sunday, December 21, according to state police.
Eighteen-year-old Brelyn R. Guyer lost control of her northbound 1998 Accura TL, which struck a utility pole at 1:23 a.m. Guyer was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to Fulton County Medical Center by members of the Hustontown Volunteer Fire Co. State police were also assisted on the scene by Lilley's Towing.
Caught Stealing Prescription Notes
Mercersburg resident Melissa Ann Helm, 30, will be charged with theft after she was caught allegedly stealing three prescription notes from Fulton County Medical Center on Thursday, December 18, at 6:32 p.m.
Warfordsburg Man To Be Charged For Punching Another
Eighteen-year-old Jordan Lynn Castle of Warfordsburg will be charged with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly punched another man in the eye and mouth. Victim Joshua Levi Crouse, 19, of Needmore suffered a bruised left eye and three chipped teeth as a result of the argument at the Warfordsburg Exxon on Wednesday, December 17, at 3:30 p.m.
Car Strikes Utility Pole
A 2003 Pontiac Grand Am struck a utility pole along Route 484 in Bethel Township on Friday, December 19, leaving its driver uninjured. Twenty-threeyear old Berkeley Springs, W.Va., resident Brandon Middlekauff was wearing a seat belt when his eastbound car crashed at 3:57 p.m. Middlekauff will be charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Possible Burglary Results In Drug Charges
A possible break-in at the former Fulton Friars in McConnellsburg last year resulted in drug-related charges being filed against a McConnellsburg Borough man. The possible burglary, according to state police, reportedly occurred on June 4, 2007, at 6:51 a.m. During the investigation, state police found a pipe containing suspected marijuana and charges have been filed accordingly against 44-yearold Arnold Miller.
Mailboxes Damaged By Hit-And-Run Truck
A blue or green pickup truck is believed to be responsible for colliding with approximately five mailboxes at 2686 Peach Orchard Road in Todd Township on Saturday, December 20, at 9:20 p.m. The vehicle likely sustained damage to the left front or left side. A 2001 GMC Jimmy became disabled when it ran into a ditch along Route 30 just east of Jerry Road on Sunday, December 21. Driver Daniel K. McCullough, 18, of Walkersville, Md., was not injured when he lost control of his eastbound sport utility vehicle along the ice-covered roadway at 2:44 p.m. McCullough, who was wearing a seat belt, will be charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic.
One Charged By Bureau Of Forestry
A 38-year-old Greencastle man was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple game law violations by forest rangers with the Buchanan State Forest. Bobby J. Bigaman was not wearing the required orange hat and did not have a hunting license displayed while hunting along Hinnish Trail in Wells Township on Saturday, December 13, at 10 a.m. Bigaman also allegedly possessed marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
