Jack L. Varner
Jack L. Varner. 73, formerly of Shade Gap, died at 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at the Long-Term Care Unit of the Fulton County Medical Center, McConellsburg.
Born August 23, 1934, in Blacklog Valley, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Hazel (Hampton) Varner. He was married to Thelma L. Jury in 1955. She preceded him in death on June 27, 1991.
He is survived by a son, Donald L. Varner, Shade Gap; and a daughter, Mary L. Locke, Shade Gap; one granddaughter, Dawn Leab; two great-grandchildren: Brittany Leab and Brady Leab.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Locke, and a brother, Edward Varner.
He was of the Protestant faith.
A 32-year employee of DeRose Industries, Chambersburg, he worked as a saw operator.
He was an avid bluegrass music fan and also enjoyed antique tractors.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2008, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia. Rev. Marlin "Butch" Neil officiated.
Interment was made in Fair Ridge Cemetery, Shade Gap.
