Larry J. Shade
Larry J. Shade, 65, of Mc- Connellsburg, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at Fulton County Medical Center.
He was born October 19, 1943, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., the son of the late John and Pearl (Braithwaite) Shade.
He was married to Judy Yost Shade on March 18, 1962.
He retired from JLG Industries on January 4, 2008, after 12 years of service. He was previously employed at Starr's Subaru, Lowery Chevrolet and drove school bus for the Central Fulton School District.
Along with his wife, Judy, they owned and operated the Tastee Freez in McConnellsburg for several years. After graduating from high school, he worked for the United States government in the Library of Congress for five years. He was a lifetime member of the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. where he served as an EMT instructor.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy V. Shade, Mc- Connellsburg; one daughter, Lori Shade (wife of Kurt) Hoffeditz, Chambersburg; and one grandson, Nathan, to whom he was devoted and loved spending time with. He is also survived by one sister, Iris Jean Peck, Warfordsburg; one niece, Doreen K. Tritle of Warfordsburg; and one nephew, Daniel Peck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Pearl Shade
Funeral services were held 2:00, Monday, December 8, 2008 at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home. Interment wias held at Union Cemetery with the Rev. John Godissart officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mc- Connellsburg Volunteer Fire Co.
