Lewis J. Hose Jr.
Lewis Jacob Hose Jr., 85, Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, December 4, 2008, at his home.
Born October 29, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lewis Jacob and Emma Lou Speilman Hose Sr.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha May Cauffman, in 1951.
He retired from Mack Trucks in 1985 with more than 25 years of service.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Trinity Bible Church in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Louise Gerhold Hose; two sons: Lewis J. Hose III and Harry M. Hose; eight daughters: Janice M. Sellers, Ella L. Quinn, Darlene J. Adams and Arlene J. Davis, all of Hagerstown; Sherry C. Cordell, Mercersburg; Phyllis I. Lopez, Brooksville, Fla.; Rhetha A. Kidweller, Bakertown, W.Va.; and Lois I. Fraker, Three Springs; one sister, Ruth E. Welty, Hagerstown; grandchildren; greatgrandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice F. Devore.
Services were held Monday, December 8, at 11:00 a.m., at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Rev. Betty Jones officiated. Burial was made in Cedar Lawn Memorial park, Hagerstown. Military honors were by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
