Jesse Smartt was picked first team football for the Public Opinion all-star team. He was also named to the Mid Penn Liberty Division first team on both sides of the ball. He is the son of Scott and Karen Smartt of Needmore. He played for James Buchanan High School.

Dwight, Anne, Liza and Naomi Harvey spent Thanksgiving with Ann's sister in Philadelphia and her other sister of York also visited with the family. Liz is a student at Wentworth College in Boston.

The churches in the area are all decorated for the holidays and look lovely.

Sympathy goes out to the family of Justin Mellott, who passed away last week after a hunting accident when he fell from his tree stand, and also to the family of Larry Shade, who passed away on Wednesday from a heart attack.

The Willing Workers of the Lutheran Church held a Christmas party last Monday night with 16 attending in the church social room.

A surprise 70th birthday party was held for Chauncey McGarvey on Saturday night at the Great Cove Club restaurant. His birthday is December 10.

Mary Knepper is back home in her apartment after a few days in Fulton County Medical Center after an injury from her falling at home.

Kim Seiders, Missy Vogt and Jackie Mellott of here and Sally Banks of East Berlin and Terri Blumenthal of Carlisle, former classmates, met recently for dinner in New Oxford.

Fulton County Medical Center held its annual Christmas party on Saturday night at the American Legion with more than 200 attending.

Dorothy Mumma of Cito Road is home recuperating after having a knee replacement recently in Harrisburg Hospital.

Tommy and Nancy Shearer, Peggy Wagner and Marvin and Dana Winters and Wes Howells spent a couple days in Atlantic City last week. Dana attended the annual sign show at the Convention Hall.

Dr. Jeremy McGarvey of Philadelphia was visiting with his parents and relatives over the weekend. He visited his 96- year-old great-grandmother, Ruth Souders, who is a resident at Fulton County Medical Center.

Santa Claus will be at the FOVA Sunday, December 21, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All children are welcome.

Herman and Verla Hill of Needmore spent the Thanksgiving weekend with their son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. Curtis and Lauren Hill of Camp Lejune, N.C.
